66220 Fenouillet
The castle is the only vestige Fenouillet Cathar was not altered after indexation to the French crown. Since 1986, he has been the subject of archaeological excavations which helped highlight a monastery dedicated to St. Peter. Completed by the outpost Castel Fizel, it was intended to monitor the Agly valley. It is notable for not having been altered by the military architects of the French crown after its indexing, unlike other forts such as Quéribus, Peyrepertuse or Puilaurens. Indeed, it was partially demolished. By cons, Sabarda Tower was built following the Treaty of Corbeil to strengthen the defense line located on the foothills of North Valley Boulzane.
